ⴰⵣⵓⵍ- Salve – أهلا

Hi! My name is [imɑnbusˁ:abu:n]

I am a second year PhD student of Linguistics at the University of Maryland, College Park, where my academic advisors are Maria Polinsky and Jeffrey Lidz. My main interests are language development and heritage linguistics. More specifically, I am interested in the factors that lead to divergent acquisition of syntactic structures in the first language of a child. This is the case of children who grow up speaking a home language which is different from the one(s) spoken by the dominant society. I currently focus on Anti-Agreement Effect in the speech of heritage speakers of Berber. The dyad I am currently working on is Tashelhiyt Berber as the heritage language and Moroccan Arabic as the dominant one.
My current project entails the construction of a corpus of child-directed Berber.
